Power & Control – LSD in The Sixties

An excellent independent documentary on the history of LSD concentrating on the power it has on people and society which led directly to why the U.S. government seek to control it’s use and distribution. When LSD was legal, through Harvard University, Tim Leary did an academic study with divinity students and all the participants went through profound mystical and spiritual experiences.

a bit of a rough and amateur film, but he was able to interview some very famous and colourful characters. I really like the comment made in the last segment about the US society being brainwashed and that LSD acts to “un-brainwash” people. I think this is a very accurate statement of the benefit that I got from it…

Yes, it’s been well documented now that a psychedelic experience is the same state as what’s commonly referred to as the nirvana state or peak experiences. It is interesting to note that the study of consciousness at the root of Tibetan Buddhism is outlawed by China just as it’s chemical equivalent is outlawed in the U.S. and other unenlightened western powers. It is probably the understanding of that state that would help elevate man beyond his habitual ignorance, fear and hate.
