Thanks for posting this, David. I think the film touches a raw nerve in us not because we didn’t know such poverty (or worse) exists, but because it so succinctly projects, visually, the extra mileage of a piece of discarded food; the last mile I should say. It forces us to confront the issue head on by the time it has led us through the journey of the chicken.

Hi Chaun, we have my cousin to thank for steering me to the video. Indeed it says a lot without a lot of words…

i’m from the philippines where mr. dimadura is from, and where the premise of the film was shot.. this is a true story.. this happens everyday for millions of shack-dwellers who have nothing to eat.. the term they use for this kind of food scourging is “batchoy” (not to be mistaken with the viand of the same name in the philippines “la paz batchoy”) me and my friends were suprised that lots of people from other nations who watched this video on youtube and other sites think that this is just a “plotted-story.” i am here to assert this is true, and tell others to serve as an eye-opener that even before the recession, poverty has been real in third-world countries. thank you!

I wanted to share with you something similar that is an issue very close to most of us, the planet earth and its valuable resources and how we treat its environment as collective humanity.
